It’s All About The Money #JobAdviceSA 23/01

Following a suggestion by Menzi Ngcobo (@MrMenziN), founder of #JobSeekersSA and a valued partner of #JobAdviceSA, our next chat will be examining salaries.

In November of last year the Deputy President announced that the national minimum wage would be set at R3 500 a month. Given the cost of living is this enough for you to get by on? Unless you are not the sole breadwinner in your house we would disagree. So whether you are a school leaver, graduate, unemployed jobseeker or simply looking to change jobs how should you determine the salary you should earn? Here are the questions we are going to cover:

Q1. How do you decide how much you should or want to earn?

Q2. What is the difference between CTC, gross and net salary?

Q3. How should you handle salary negotiations?

Q4. What additional factors should you consider?

Vanessa Raath (@Van_Raath), Wesley Madziva (@WeszMadz) and me, Tim Barry (@TimJBarry), look forward to chatting with you on Monday at 16h00. You can follow us, @JobAdviceSÀ or the hashtag #JobAdviceSA to take part in the chat. Remember to tweet your questions or answers using A1, A2, etc. as well as chipping in with your advice on the tricky topic of salaries.
